SCHAMMEL, JR. , George On November 19, 2011, George Schammel, Jr. , of Bel Air, MD, the only child of the late Marie and George Schammel. Sr. passed away peacefully at home with his wife of 55 years by his side. George was the beloved husband of Lois Schammel (nee Schmidt); devoted father of daughter, Susan and her husband Michael Whitacre of Jarrettsville; Son, Steven and his wife Lori of Raleigh, NC. Also, Gary and wife Alisa of Middle River, MD. He was a loving grandfather of eight. He retired from The Greater Baltimore Medical Center in 1997. He was an active member of Advent Lutheran Church, where a celebration of George's life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 11 AM, 2230 Rock Spring Road, Forest Hill, MD 21050, with the Rev. Paul V. Bickel officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to and after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's name to Advent Lutheran Church at the above address.
